the daily garb: scarecrow.

hahaa i look like a scarecrow in the middle there. the sweater was just so big and soft, i felt the urge to..stand like a scarecrow..or pretend i'm flying away, either one works really.  i got this comfortable sweater from gap yesterday for a mere $4.  you know, it's always a good idea to check the sizes too big for you, because you might find a little gem like i did. it's an extra large, but it looks like it's supposed to fit baggy like that right? maybe only i think it looks cute and i really look ridiculous, but i have a weakness for loose, soft, comfy things, so i like it! :)

 i got my "executer" shoes as my friend likes to call them from a local resale shop, dechoes, which i've talked about lots, for $9.  i think they're pretty cool..

and look at my headphones! they aren't completely finished, but it was just taking so long and i really wanted to share them so voila! it's really simple, if you know how to make friendship bracelets, then you could totally make these! it just takes a LOT of string and patience.  if you're going to make them then use more string than you think you'll need, i did and still ran out! 

DIY: terrariums

on memorial day, my family spent the day making terrariums! they turned out really awesome, so i thought i'd do a kind of  DIY..kind of meaning there are so many different ways you can make them and different things you can use, so no one will really look the same!                                              what you'll need:

vase/bottle

sand

dirt/soil

moss

rocks/shells

plants

whatever else you want to throw in there!

 the moss is basically there to create the layers. so it is good to put down before the sand or soil so they don't seep through, causing a jumbled mess!

 be sure to to pat the sand down really hard so it's in there good! if you pack it down enough, it will cover the moss for the most part.

 and that's it! it's pretty simple once you get the hang of it! it just takes a creative mind and lots of patience!

we make other ones too, but for some reason all of the pictures turned out...rather poorly, unfortunately. but i hope you guys liked this kinda DIY, let me know if you make one or something, i'd love to see yours!! :)

WORLD PEACE.  i know i sound like ms. america, but it's true, we all want world peace. nobody wants to be at war, nor do they want to be in a fight with their best friend. we also want to be at peace with ourselves. we strive to be somebody that we will love, because we long to be loved by others.

i found this on pinterest this morning and i love this quote! it is so true, we all must be ourselves, there is no reason to be someone else, and we must love ourselves exactly how we are, because Christ loves us just as we are.  the only way to be at peace with ourselves, friends, family, and the world is to first be at peace with Jesus!  we must receive this glorious gift from Him, so that we may live the life he has planned for each of us! :)

i feel like we are always being told to be yourself and love who you are. i now realize that this means to be the person God is calling me to be, and to love that person, because He created me just as He wanted me to be :)

Seek my face at the beginning of your day.  This practice enables you to "put Me on" and "wear Me" throughout the day.  Most people put on clothes soon after arising from bed.  Similarly, the sooner you "put Me on" by communicating with Me, the better prepared you are for whatever comes your way. 


To "wear Me" is essentially to have My mind: to think My thought.  Ask the Holy Spirit to control your thinking: be transformed by this renewal within you.  Thus you are well equipped to face whatever people and situations I bring your way.  Clothing your mind in Me is your best preparation for each day.  This discipline brings Joy and Peace to you and those around you.

i read this passage from my devotional, Jesus Calling by Sarah Young, last night and i really liked it.  i tend to do my quiet time with Jesus at night before bed because thats when i think to do it, but i love the idea of clothing myself with Christ every morning, really before i even get out of bed, so that i am thinking of Him throughout the day and focusing all my thoughts on Him and what He would like me to do!

so this week i am going to work on having my quiet time in the mornings, and i'd love to encourage you to do this with me and see how it works out for you! :):) i think what i am going to try to do this week is post my devotional a few mornings so when you come to my blog you will read it, hopefully at the start of your day, and it will remind you to spend some quiet time with the one who loves you most, and think of Him throughout the day :) and if i like it and you guys like it then maybe it will be a lovely new addition to fashion birthmark!

and today i am thankful for this gorgeous sunset, i just loved how the bright colors were shining onto the water, turning a plain old lake into something beautiful!  i actually took this picture about a week ago, but i thought it would be nice for this mornings post...even though it's a sunset and not a sunrise, but let's just pretend it's a sunrise for the sake of this post haha, okay? good :)  

hopefully someday i'll gather up the motivation to wake up at the crack of dawn and go to the lake down the road and actually watch the sunrise, i would absolutely love to! and of course it sounds like a good idea...until the alarm goes off in the morning and all you want to do is snuggle back down under the warm covers and close your sleepy eyes until noon :) but i am sure that day will some soon and when it happens, you will be sure to know of it because my little buddy {canon} will be sure to tag along so i can capture the beautiful sky God created for our eyes to enjoy, and i'm sure i will be bragging and sharing the photos!

ello there. i got this top last week, i'm really into the whole button up deal right now, as you can see from my last post with the denim one top.  i really like the shirt, but for some reason it reminds me of like the circus...or cracker jacks or something i'm not really sure where that came from hahaa..i got it from marshalls for $12, i'm not sure of the brand, i'm pretty sure it's an old lady shirt but i really like it! i paired it with some levi cutoffs, and pink belt from target, and a watch necklace from nordstrom rack! and my sandals are from target as well!
